McGraw Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018, in Rome, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Dec. 24, 1945 in Newnan, Ga., he was a son of 14 children of the late of Bird Berry and Ollie Mae Landers Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newnan, Georgia, and was a manager and salesman holding numerous positions in this area. He was preceded in death by his wife the late Margaret “Peggy” Smith in October, 2013. Surviving are sons, Anthony Joseph (Joe) Smith, Jr. of Birmingham, Al. and Benjamin Smith of Trion; sister, Sandra Brown of Newnan; brothers, Jack Smith and Jett Smith both of Newnan; grandchildren, Leigha Cannon, Kathryn Smith, Megan Martin, Alexandria Palmer; great-grandchildren, Branden, Noah, Elijah, Shawna, Briellah, Emerson, and Dylann; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Randy Martin, Gordon Little, and Earl Parris officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tim Fulmer, Earl Parris, Fred Lawson, Bill Hubbard, Jett Smith, Jr., John Agnew, Dan Little, and Gordon Little. David Agnew, professor of agricultural education, who died suddenly this morning.Dr. Agnew had served on the A-State faculty since 1990. He was promoted to associate professor in 1998, and professor in 2009. He earned his bachelor's degree at University of Tennessee-Martin, and his master's and doctoral degrees at Mississippi State University.
